TOURISM TALKS: WALTON COUNTY’S NEW VIDEO SERIES FOR TOURISM EDUCATION

The Walton County Tourism Department is excited to announce the debut of its new video series, “Tourism Talks.” Since launching in May during National Travel and Tourism Week, the series aims to provide valuable educational content to local partners and stakeholders in the tourism industry.

The series consists of concise, 15-minute-or-less video segments that can be easily accessed at any time. Available on YouTube and the Walton County Tourism website at WaltonCountyFLTourism.com/Tourism-Talks, “Tourism Talks” aims to make educational content more accessible and convenient than ever before, so it’s perfect for partners and business owners with busy schedules.

The first episode focuses on social media trends, which is a timely topic essential for businesses looking to enhance their online presence and engage more effectively with their audiences. The production of this episode was a collaborative effort with the social media team, led by Jennifer Edelman, Social Media Manager at Zehnder Communications.

With a decade of experience in social media strategy, Jennifer offers a wealth of insights into leveraging social media effectively. She teaches viewers the best practices for various social media platforms, emphasizing the importance of tailoring content to fit the audience’s style.

From adding captions to videos so viewers can watch without sound to maintaining a cohesive Instagram grid layout, the first installment highlights tricks of the trade. So, whether you’re looking to explore influencer marketing or revamp your content calendar, Jennifer encourages viewers to define their objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), desired results timeline and target audience before posting.

However, “Tourism Talks” is not just a one-time event – it’s the beginning of an ongoing effort to create a range of educational content.

Also live on the site, the second video in the series is all about how to write and distribute press releases with Adél Grobler, Senior Vice President at Turner PR. From drafting a captivating headline to crafting a call to action, press releases should pique the reader’s interest. It’s all about keeping it concise – that means no jargon! Adél also focuses on core tenets of press release distribution, such as creating a targeted media list, connecting with journalists, crafting personalized emails to media professionals and more.

Each subsequent episode will cover a variety of topics relevant to the tourism industry, helping local partners stay informed about the latest trends and best practices. This initiative underscores Walton County Tourism’s commitment to continuous improvement and support for the local business community.

Additional topics will include an SEO/SEM piece, a travel trends overview and more, all spearheaded by Walton County Tourism’s partnering agency specialists. Check out the episodes on social media trends and press releases, and look forward to a wealth of knowledge and insights that will be shared in the months to come!
